Polevoy Egor — JSC «EVRAZ ZSMK» Deputy Head of Department for Research and Development of Normative Technical Documentation. E-mail: Egor.Polevoj@evraz.com Yunin Gennady — Evraz plc., Adviser on the technology of production of rail products. E-mail: Gennady.Yunin@evraz.com Golovatenko Alexey — Ph.D., JSC «EVRAZ ZSMK», Director for Rail production. E-mail: Alexey.Golovatenko@evraz.com Abstract. Starting from 2013, EVRAZ ZSMK JSC delivers differently thermally strengthened railway rails to the network of JSCo Russian Railways. In the article features of qualitative characteristics of new categories of rails, the problems revealed at the initial period of their operation, as well as measures aimed at their elimination are considered. It is shown that in order to increase the service life of rails, complex efforts are needed to improve the quality of rails and their operation.

E-mail: pgups1967@mail.ru Abstract. The ballast layer element of the upper structure of railway track — it provides vertical and horizontal stability under the influence of train loads and varying temperatures. As a base material for a ballast layer of gravel is used, corresponding to the technical documentation requirements. The purpose of research — to improve the performance characteristics of the ballast layer to reduce clogging and moisture ballast, reduce or eliminate the emission of rubble from the ballast layer to reduce the amount of work on the current content. For high performance, it is proposed polymer-cement material, a modified organo-mineral composition containing nanoparticles. The developed material is characterized by a high elasticity, crack resistance, does not lose its properties under the action of the train load, resistant to chemical materials (oil, grease, acids), is not destroyed during the operation in a temperature range from + 50 to -60 °C. Testing large-scale models, made from rubble and develop a polymer-modified cement material showed that the tensile strength of the associated ballast in the 28 days of 18.0—20.0 MPa, which is about 30 times higher than the design pressure of the sleepers on the ballast, and durability associated ballast at two million cycles without fatigue damage is provided a composite material sample onto at a pressure 4—5 times higher than the possible pressure of sleepers on the ballast train load.
