« Back 01.10.2018 12:29 Additional defect parameter for ultrasonic inspection of rails
Keywords: non-destructive testing of rails, ultrasonic flaw detection of rails, Mirror Through-Transmission Method, amplitude of the bottom signal, amplitude curve of bottom signals, detection of rail defects Markov Anatoliy – D.Sci., Deputy General Designer, Head of the Department «Methods and means of nondestructive testing», Radioavionica JSC (Russia, St. Petersburg). E-mail: amarkovspb@gmail.com Maksimova Ekaterina - Head of the nondestructive testing laboratory, Radioavionica JSC (Russia, St. Petersburg). E-mail: kuznecova_e@rambler.ru Abstract. In the article the questions of ultrasonic flaw detection of rails by mirror through transmission method are considered. The method is based on an analysis of the amplitude of signals reflected from the bottom surface of rails (bottom signals) and their attenuation over defects. The physical nature of the interaction of ultrasonic waves with a defect using the echo method and the mirror through transmission method is fundamentally different. A complex analysis of these methods can increase the probability of detecting of rail defects.
On the need to control the graduation of lateral rail irregularities
Keywords: lateral rail irregularities, gauge width, railway train dynamics modeling. Pevzner Victor — D.Sci., Professor, Chief Researcher JSC «VNIIZhT». E-mail: vpevzner@list.ru Klement’ev Kirill — Researcher, Scientific Center «Track infrastructure and issues of wheel-rail interaction», JSC «VNIIZhT». E-mail: klementjev-vniizht@yandex.ru Abstract. The current evaluation system of track geometry provides supervision of standards for track gauge width and speed limits at excess of allowable values. This article discusses the shortcomings of the existing system of evaluation in terms of lateral track geometry. In order to overcome it, direction of improving current standards for estimated lateral track geometry is proposed. The influence of the steepness of lateral irregularities of rails on performance of rolling stock dynamics is presents. Values of of the steepness of lateral irregularities, unacceptable in terms of traffic safety, are established.
Domestic Experience of Using turnouts on the Slab basis
Keywords: reinforced concrete base, turnouts, slab track base for turnouts, slab calculation, test results, operating experience, offers for use. Glusberg Boris — D.Sci., professor, head of laboratory «Turnout technologies» research Institute of railway transport (JSC «VNIIZHT»). E-mail: Glusberg@mail.ru Loktev Alexey — D.Sci., head of the Department «Transport building» of the Russian University of Transport (MIIT). E-mail: aaloktev@yandex.ru Korolev Vadim — Ph.D., associate professor of the Department «Transport building» of the Russian University of Transport (RUT (MIIT) a. E-mail: Korolevadim@mail.ru Abstract. The article considers the domestic experience of creating and testing point switches on a slab foundation. The given data on experience of testing and operation of several batches of switches on the slab foundation of domestic development in the middle of the last century. Data are given on the types of plate defects that occur during their work in transit. The expediency of using the experience of using a plate base for the conditions of high-speed and heavy traffic is shown.
