Shmakov Andrei — Head of the Research Laboratory «Path Testing», Department «Track and track facilities», Russian University of Transport (MIIT). Moscow, Russia. Е-mail: shmakow.andrei@yandex.ru

Abstract. The article presents a methodology for taking into account the dynamic nature of the impact of trains on the stability of the slope parts of the operated high embankments. It is proposed to introduce additional inertial forces from ground vibrations during the passage of trains into the classical calculation of the stability of embankment slopes. A method is proposed for measuring the parameters of the soil vibrations of the embankment and finding the calculated values of vibration accelerations to take them into account when assessing stability.

The method is tested on the example of assessing the stability of an embankment located on the Sverdlovsk railway.

Investigation of cracking of reinforced concrete bridges

Keywords: diagnostics; superstructures; normal cracks; inclined cracks; crack opening; structural coefficient; defects.

Sheykin Alexander — Ph.D, associate professor of the Departament «Bridges and tunnels» Russian University of Transport (MIIT). Moscow, Russia. E-mail: a.sheikin@yandex.ru

Abstract. Two cases of bridge structures cracks expansion for ordinary reinforced concrete under test load are dealing with: one which meets requirements of Code of Rules (SP) and another exceeding the theoretical values. It’s illustrated with the real case for vertical crack that a significant exceeding by experimental values of the theoretical ones may indicate hidden structural defects in a bridge span structure. Simultaneously, similar situation with inclined cracks may be related not with acquired defects, but with structural defects of the beams what makes vital upgrading the SP formula for the width of the opening of inclined cracks.

Possibility of detecting «hot crack» defect in welded joints

Keywords: aluminum thermal welding, ultrasonic inspection of rails, welded joints, defects in welded joints, microstructure of metal in welded joints.

Nikolaev Sergei — Ph.D., is an associate professor, departments are «Methods and devices of non-destructive control» of the Petersburg university of ways of report. Saint-Petersburg, Russia. E-mail: nikol_ndt@mail.ru

Abstract. In the course of research, the possibility of detecting a defect of the «hot crack» type was analyzed by ultrasonic inspection using an ultrasonic flaw detector (for local inspection) and using flaw detector with phased arrays (during acceptance inspection), as well as the possibility of detecting a defect using an ultrasonic inspection method according to a method different from the one accepted.

Results of experimental studies with application of capillary and magnetic powder methods, for confirmation and visualization of defect on fragment of welded joint of rails, with subsequent studies of macro and microstructure of fragments of welded joint in place of detected internal defect and on defective section are presented.

Abstraсt. Vibration from high speeds on railways negatively affects artificial structures and as a result they pose a threat to human life. As a result of an experimental examination of the foundation of an artificial structure, it was revealed that vibration had a serious impact on the condition of the artificial structure, affected wear resistance and shortened its service life. Exceeding the normative levels of vibration rates indicates the need for technical solutions to reduce the level of vibration, as well as technical solutions to strengthen this foundation. Assessment of the physical factor (vibration impact) is an integral part of complex engineering and environmental surveys, which are carried out to assess the condition of artificial structures, predict possible changes in the parameters of artificial structures under the influence of anthropogenic impact, environmental studies.
